The information you share with us
Depending on the services you use, we receive your name, your email address, your shipping and billing details, the products you select, your requests and your conversations with our team. An account keeps the information needed to sign in and to use the features you choose.
The contact and support forms collect the details you enter so we can respond to you. Please avoid sending medical data, payment credentials or other sensitive information in your messages.
What is it used for?
Contact details and the content of requests are used to prepare and manage our business relationship, answer questions, follow up on cases and provide after-sales service. The necessary technical information helps the site work, protects accounts and prevents abuse.
A newsletter subscription is separate from a contact request or account creation. It relies on your consent, confirmed by email, which you can withdraw at any time.
Payment and emails
Online payment is currently disabled. This shop does not collect credit card numbers.
When email sending is enabled, our provider Resend receives the recipient’s address and the content needed to deliver the messages. Authorized members of the OXSEA team access the information needed to handle requests.
Automated emails
When you enter your address at checkout, a notice tells you that we may remind you of an unfinished cart or order (three emails at most) and, after a purchase, send you tips on using your gear, a review request and suggestions compatible with your equipment. A checkbox lets you object right away. These emails stop as soon as you buy; each one contains an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately, and emails about your orders continue.
Newsletter subscribers receive a short welcome series; a back-in-stock alert is sent only once, at your request. We record clicks on the links in these emails, with no open-tracking pixel, to stop a series at the right time and measure how useful it is, along with your browser’s time zone so that we write to you during the day. This information stays on our servers and is not shared with any third party, apart from Resend, our email provider. It is deleted three years after your last interaction with OXSEA, and a back-in-stock request after 180 days.
External services
School video tutorials are served by this shop. The brand film uses YouTube, once you have allowed external videos and asked to play it. The retailer map uses Google Maps only when you ask to display it. Links to social networks, partners and external services take you to sites governed by their own policies.
Audience measurement
To improve the shop, we measure its traffic with our own tool: pages viewed, where visits come from, device, interactions and checkout steps, linked to a random browser identifier. When you place an order, its number is associated with the visit to measure how well pages and campaigns perform; traffic analyses never use your name or contact details. This data stays on our servers, is never shared with third parties and is kept for up to 25 months. The details and how to opt out are on our cookies page.
Advertising
With the consent you give in the cookie banner, we share with Meta (Facebook, Instagram) the pages and products viewed, checkout steps and purchases, with technical identifiers (Meta cookies, IP address, browser) and, when you place an order or create an account, your email, phone number, name and address in hashed form. This information is used to measure our ads and show them to people who may be interested. OXSEA and Meta are joint controllers for its collection and transmission; Meta then processes it under its own policy. The information needed to report a purchase is kept on our servers for up to 30 days. The details and how to withdraw your consent are on our cookies page.
Data retention
How long data is kept depends on the type of information, your ongoing relationship with OXSEA and applicable legal obligations. Contact us for details about your account, your request or your order.
Your rights and choices
You can contact us to access your information, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and exercise the other rights that apply to your situation. Some data may need to be kept to meet a legal obligation or handle a complaint.
Email contact@oxsea.com with the details of your request. A proportionate identity check may be needed to protect your information.
You can also contact the data protection authority in your country of residence; in France, this is the CNIL (website in French).
